A Teacher

Congratulations on researching what it takes to get girls active!

One of the most recommended ways to increase girls’ participation in physical activity at school is to:

Have girls’ only classes/programs.

That doesn’t mean separate all girls from the boys’ classes, as there are girls who are very competitive and want to be in those classes – those aren’t the girls we are worried about!

In smaller schools, some teachers have tried a recreational and competitive option during class. They found this engaged both boys and girls who were uncomfortable about participating with everyone.
